Where to play padel in Berkshire this winter
Darker evenings don't have to mean no padel. How our floodlit outdoor court near Newbury keeps you playing through the Berkshire winter.
Padel has taken Berkshire by storm, and the good news is that winter does not have to slow you down. At Courts Padel® X The Retreat Elcot Park, between Newbury and Hungerford, the court is floodlit and open every day from 7am to 9pm.
Floodlit evenings
With floodlights on the court, an after-work game is still on even when it is dark by five. Book a slot at 6pm or later and play under the lights.
Playing outdoors in winter
Ours is an outdoor court, so play is exposed to the weather. A few tips for the colder months:
- Warm up properly; cold muscles and quick padel movements don't mix
- Wear layers you can shed as you warm up
- Bring a dry top and a hat for afterwards
- Balls feel slower in the cold; expect longer rallies
Standard Playtomic cancellation is 24hrs - If your booking becomes heavy rain, or snow, please contact us and we can arrange credit/ refunds.

Warm up afterwards
One of the joys of playing at The Retreat is what comes after: a drink by the fire, lunch or dinner at the hotel, or the spa. It makes a winter game something to look forward to.
